PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health, Shahram Khan Tarakai Sunday while spelling out his future plan regarding Sehat-Ka-Insaf campaign said that almost 1.3 million children have been vaccinated against polio in Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda and Swabi.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Officers Mess, he said that 1.6 million children were targeted in the campaign among which 1.3 million children have been successfully inoculated. He said that success ratio was about 94 percent.
He said that Peshawar witnessed 10th round of the campaign adding Swabi, Mardan and Charsadda were included in the ambit of the campaign for the first time. He appreciated the role of police saying their efforts ensured safety of the polio teams.
He said that Vitamin A dose was also administered to the children during the campaign.
Shahram Khan told that camps would be arranged in the Union Councils where vaccination drive has not been completed due to certain reasons. He said that two more rounds of Sehat-Ka-Insaf campaign would be arranged in the provincial metropolis while eight rounds will be conducted in other areas. He said that we have the full cooperation of police, UNICEF and WHO in Sehat-Ka-Insaf campaign.
Minister urged people, media men and ulema to support the endeavours of government against this crippling disease. He said that all available resource would be utilized to administer anti-polio drops in areas where refusal cases have been reported.
Responding to a question, minister said that cease fire has positively impacted the smooth hand safe running of campaign. He said that government is planning to extend the drive to southern areas.
