Man kills daughter, then posts photo of dead child on Facebook
Philippines – A 31-year-old jobless man stabbed his seven-year-old daughter to death inside their house in Quezon City, then posted on Facebook the picture of the dead child early yesterday morning after his wife, who is working in Canada, refused to return home.
Inspector Elmer Monsalve, chief of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the suspect, Mark Alvin Manliclic, was arrested after killing his own daughter, Angel Mark Cathlene Manliclic.
Monsalve said that they were also looking into reports that aside from the still photo, the suspect also uploaded on Facebook the actual killing of his daughter to get the attention of his wife.
“Kung naka-record or naka-upload sa Facebook, makakakuha kami ng kopya nun,” the police official added.
Police said the girl died from multiple stab wounds in the neck, a knife wound in the abdomen and another in the back.
The girl’s body was found lying face-down inside their home at No. 26 M. Aquino St., Barangay Sta. Lucia, Quezon City, at about 3 a.m. after the suspect confessed to his aunt, Vilma Villajuan, that he had killed his own child.
Officials of Barangay Sta. Lucia brought the suspect to the police.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered the kitchen knife used in the killing and a short pants with blood stains on the left pocket.
Based on initial police investigation, Monsalve said the suspect perpetrated the crime after his wife, Catherine, rejected his plea for her to return to the country.
It was also learned that the suspect allegedly got mad after his wife refused to talk to him on Facebook despite his repeated messages to her.
“Nagbabanta siya na kung hindi uuwi ang asawa niya na nasa ibang bansa, papatayin niya ang bata, at nangyari na nga iyun at pinatay niya,” Monsalve said.
Probers learned that after killing his daughter, the suspect took a photo of the dead child and posted it on his Facebook account to the shock of his wife.
Allan Cagang, one of the arresting barangay safety officers, said the suspect was angry at his wife for allegedly hiding from him her plan to work in Canada.
“Masama ang loob niya sa babae. Hindi niya matanggap na umalis siya para mag trabaho sa ibang bansa,” Cagang said.
“Bago niya nagawa ang krimen, uminom pa siya ng alak eh,” Cagang said.
Cagang said Manliclic’s wife left the country last May 9.
Investigators also learned that three days before committing the crime, the suspect tried to end his life but he was prevented by his daughter.
Police said the suspect is now facing parricide charges.
