#Habib Bank Limited (HBL) sponsored Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Africa to issue and acquire UnionPay (UPI) cards. Under the arrangement, DTB will avail the affiliate membership of UPI under the principal license of HBL. This will allow DTB to issue Union Pay cards to various segments of its customers, and accept local and international UnionPay cards on its ATM network.
A ceremony was held for the signing of an MoU between DTB and UPI in Nairobi, Kenya, at the DTB Head Office. Present at the occasion were Ms. Nasim Devji, CEO - DTB Africa, Mr. David Lee, Chief Cooperation Officer – UPI and Mr. Faiq Sadiq, Head Payment Services – HBL along with other officials of the three organizations.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Faiq Sadiq congratulated DTB and UPI on signing of the MoU and said, “HBL is the largest issuer of UnionPay cards in Pakistan, and founder member of UPI. HBL is proud to sponsor the affiliate membership of UPI to DTB Africa under our principal license”. He further added, “HBL strongly believes that the card business has great potential to grow and HBL as a key global player will continue to play its part in supporting the financial industry.”
