TEHRAN – A member of Iran-Britain Parliamentary Friendship Group says Tehran welcomes expansion of relations with London provided that the country’s rights are preserved.
Nader Fereydouni said the government, Majlis, people, and the leadership of the Islamic Republic have never sought to sever relations with other countries, except the Zionist regime of Israel which is not a legitimate state, according to ICANA news agency.
He went on to say that despite the fact that Britain had not adopted an acceptable policy towards Iran in the past, it has relatively modified its approach over the past few months which can help speed up the opening of embassies in the two countries.
Britain ordered the closure of Iran’s embassy in London after closing its own in Tehran following the storming of the compound by hundreds of angry students in November 2011.
