Qadri claims they have won war with ‘peaceful protests’

September 02, 2014 - Islamabad—Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan Monday said that Mian Nawaz Sharif has no moral justification to remain Prime Minister of Pakistan and therefore should resign till investigation into rigging of elections is completed.

Addressing his party activists from the Red Zone after the PAT and PTI workers reached at the gate of the Prime Minister House, Imran Khan said Mr Nawaz Sharif should decide whether he wants to go peaceful or in disgrace. He said they cannot run the government and the whole country would shut down if they continued to remain in offices. He said they started the march with the commitment that either they would get freedom or die.

He said they had demanded Mian Nawaz Sharif to honourably resign for one month because according to him there could be no impartial investigation into rigging of elections and Model Town tragedy in the presence of the Prime Minister and Punjab Chief Minister. He said if they remained in office, they would not allow transparent investigations. He said Nawaz Sharif has not been sentenced in any corruption case.

Imran Khan was of the opinion that the movement of oppressed would unite every one. He said no where in democracy in the world, people have been killed as has been done in Pakistan. He claimed that one of their workers has been killed while 45 people injured with bullets are in hospital. He said the use of rubber bullets is against Geneva convention and any body killed with these bullets will be considered as murder. He said they have no connection with those entering the PTV building. Imran Khan said a case should also be registered against the Prime Minister under article six of the constitution for making wrong statement in the National Assembly. He said they have told Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif that their protest would continue till the resignation of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

The PTI Chief said it is their democratic right to protest over rigging in elections. He said they have been demanding investigation into rigging of elections but our demands were not listened to. He said so far 2500 policemen have refused to implement the orders of rulers and thanked them for their stance. He said the policemen say they would not take any action in violation of the law as they are not servants of Sharifs. He said Pakistan would be the first Muslim country where there would be genuine democracy. Imran Khan asked the people to reach Islamabad as it is the day of real freedom, little time is left for the government and they would hear good news any time.

He asked the workers to remain peaceful as they have achieved their mission through sacrifices and do not turn their factory into defeat through some wrong act.

Meanwhile, claiming victory of the Revolution and Azadi Marches, Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said Monday that they are in control of the entire Pakistan Secretariat and gate of the Prime Minister house and only formal announcement is to be made. Addressing activists from his container, the PAT chief said they have won the war with peaceful protests and announced that the PAT and PTI would not provide coffin for the rule of Sharifs.

He said when females of the protest give sacrifices, the movement achieves its objectives. He said his workers are in control of the two gates of Prime Minister House and asked them not to allow him to flee. Tahirul Qadri demanded the formation of national government which must carry out reforms, give rights and justice to the people. He asked the workers of PAT and PTI to remain peaceful and not to damage the symbols of state and accept the orders of Pakistan army. Earlier there were clashes between police and protestors as both sides freely indulged in pelting of stones and firing of tear gas shells.

After the clash, as the massive crowd of people started moving towards Pakistan Secretariat, the police suddenly withdrew and did not stop the marchers from entering into different blocks of the Secretariat. They further went ahead and gathered outside the gate of Prime Minister House. The containers of Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan remained in front of the Cabinet block just only a few meters away from each other..—INP
