7 killed in road accidents including 5 Pakistanis



Five Pakistani expatriates were killed and two others seriously injured in a fatal road accident near Al-Oula, about 300 km from Madinah on Monday morning.

“Four people including two men and two women were killed at the spot while the remaining victims were shifted to Khyber General Hospital in critical condition,” Naif Al-Ahmedi, spokesperson of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Madinah said.

He said that on receiving information of the accident, the Red Crescent rushed to the site with ambulances and a helicopter to rescue the victims.

Two youths were shifted to King Fahad Hospital in Madinah owing to the serious nature of their injuries, a source told Arab News. He said that one of them succumbed to his injuries while the other is battling for life in the hospital.

In another tragic incident on Saturday evening, a Riyadh-based Pakistani family met with a fatal accident on their way back to Riyadh. The family had pulled over to the side of the road as the car they were traveling in had suddenly developed a technical snag. A Sudanese motorist going their way stopped and offered to help and while he was fixing the problem, a speeding car ran over them killing the Sudanese instantly and resulting in the death of a Pakistani woman.

The others who had sustained injuries were shifted to a hospital in Taif.
