At least 316 Pakistanis still missing two days into Mina stampede

ISLAMABAD – Two days after Mina tragedy, authorities could not get information about as many as 316 missing Pakistanis.

Tando Ala Yar’s 30-year-old Aneeb Khan is among the missing persons. Former prime minister (PM) Yousaf Raza Gillani’s nephew Asad Gillani has embraced martyrdom in the stampede. Reportedly, Gilani’s body has been identified at a hospital in Mina.

At least eight Pakistanis are among the 717 martyred, 13 are among 800 injured while 316 Pakistanis are still missing. Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia is making efforts to get information about the missing persons.

Three Karachi women are missing following the Mina tragedy. The parents of the missing women are anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.



According to details, Bushra is youngest among six sisters and two brothers. She lived in Riyadh for over four years because she worked for a private airline. Reportedly, she was with her three friends in Mina during the stampede.

Bushra’s parents and two of her friends Rida Iman and Khadija Saeed have not been able to contact her.

Taking notice of the incident, the PM has directed the High Commission in Saudi Arabia to begin the search operation for the missing women.

The stampede has claimed more than 700 lives during Hajj this year.  (Dunya News)
