SWAT (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here Friday formally inaugurated the state-of-the-art ‘Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital’ (NSKH) to provide best possible medical treatment to patients of nephrology, kidney and other diseases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at their doorsteps.
The prime minister inaugurated the 110-bed hospital, located on the main Kalam-Swat Road at Minglawar Town near Mingora, by unveiling a plaque.
He was accompanied by Advisor to the Prime Minister Engr Amir Muqam, former Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, KPK PML-N President Pir Sabir Shah, senior PML-N leader Siranjum Khan, Focal Personal Punjab Hospital Trust Javed Akram and other government officials of Punjab and KP besides elite of the city.
The prime minister, while noting down his impression in the visitors book after inaugurating the hospital wrote: “Al-Humdolillah, it is an excellent gift from Punjab Hospital Trust chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for people of KP. Mr Dar has taken personal interest in building of this state-of-the-art hospital. May Allah Almighty accept his noble deed.
Mr Dar’s efforts were fully backed by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif who conceived this idea and provided leadership and support.”
The prime minister visited different sections of the hospital including pathology, dialysis and other labs and appreciated the services being provided to patients in the facility.Javed Akram, Focal Person for Punjab Hospital Trust briefed the prime minister about the hospital and said it was built by Punjab Hospital Trust (PHT) in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs 800 million.
The hospital is yet another gift of Punjab Government for people of KPK. Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital (NSKH) is one of the largest kidney hospitals of the country and its services could be compared with any other modern hospital of South Asia.
Spread over an area of 96,330 square feet and located in the picturesque Minglawar town on Kalam-Swat Road, NSKH is equipped with latest equipment and diagnostic machines including CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Rays, Lithotripsy machines, operation theater and Ultra Sound.
The hospital has an Out Patient Department (OPD), male and female wards, dialyses unit, well equipped laboratories and other modern facilities.
In addition to 14 modern dialysis machines, the government has appointed 28 medical officers including four consultant urologists, who are currently providing extensive medical and diagnostic services to patients.
The services of cardiologists, anesthetists, pathologists, surgeons and others necessary medical and laboratory staff are available to look after the patients round the clock. A total of 193 posts out of 267 have been filled by the government whereas the process of recruitment to fill remaining posts would be completed soon.
The OPD services and operation theater equipped with all necessary high powered medical and surgical equipment had already started providing treatment to patients in September last year and all other departments were functional.
With formal inauguration of the hospital, the people of Swat, Dir, Chitral, Malakand, Shangla and adjacent districts would be facilitated, particularly the patients of kidney transplant and dialysis and other related diseases in the four storey building. The doctors at the hospital told APP that the Institute of Kidney Disease in Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) Peshawar was immensely overloaded due to high number of patients coming from far flung areas including Malakand division and Swat. They said the Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital Swat would be an alternative source of treatment for patients.
This hospital would immensely help address the grave problem of patients coming at HMC besides helping people of Malakand division to get quality treatment at their doorstep by saving their money and time as well.
