‘Sharif family bought flats from black money’
Imran Khan has once again alleged that the Sharif family bought flats in London from wealth accrued from corruption in Pakistan.
Addressing a political rally in Bagh, around 120 kilometers from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) capital Muzaffarabad, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman on Tuesday said that illegal wealth of leaders needs to be investigated.
“We need such a leader who will investigate the illegal wealth of [Prime Minister] Nawaz Sharif and [former president] Asif Zardari,” Imran said.
“Thieves will never make thieves accountable but they will try to protect each other,” he asserted.
The PTI chief and former Pakistan cricket team captain went on to lament that corruption practised at the top can spread to lower echelons.
“People follow leaders and when a leader earns money through corruption then nobody can stop, a revenue officer (patwari) or cricketer from corruption and spot-fixing.”
Imran alleged that those who destroy institutions can never make them better.
“Pakistan is full of resources but rulers never worked to make this country stable and prosperous.”
He added before partition Pakistan provided grains to the whole of India while today our farmers are protesting on the roads.
“Mian Sb motorways and roads have never brought revolution in the world,” Imran said, reiterating his popular refrain against mega projects. “Punjab government is spending Rs200billion on the 27 kilometre long Orange train while that money can be spent to make health and education sectors better in the country. “
He further alleged that the Sharif brothers, PM Nawaz and Punjab CM Shahbaz, are earning billions of rupees through commission and kick-backs from mega projects while more than 25 million children languish out of schools.
Imran also promised to raise voice against the oppression of the Kashmiri people in the Indian part of the disputed Himalayan territory. He pointed out how Kashmiris suffered as over 700,000 Indian army soldiers crushed their voice for the last 26 years.
“PM Nawaz never raised his voice on human rights violations in Indian Kashmir as he loves to do steel business with India rather than condemning human rights abuses,” the PTI chief said before vowing to “Raise the Kashmir issue at every international forum as rights violations are unacceptable to us.”
“Without the settlement of Kashmir dispute no one can guarantee peace in South Asia,” adding that settlement of the Kashmir issue as per the wishes of Kashmiris will bring prosperity in the whole region.
Imran said that when PTI comes into power in AJK it will focus on human resource development while putting the health and education sectors on the priority.
