Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) hosted Sixth Regional Regulators’ Roundtable from 18-19 July 2016 and a 3-day International Training Program (ITP) jointly organized by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and PTA from 20-22 July 2016 in Islamabad.
ITP started on Wednesday, 20 July 2016 and delegates from 23 countries of Asia-Pacific region are participating in this important training program mainly designed share regulatory experience and initiatives of Pakistan with the regional countries.
PTA Successfully Concludes Three-Day International Training Program
On day one of ITP, PTA shared regulatory framework on Quality of Service (QoS) with the participants followed by live demonstration of QoS testing for mobile and wireless broadband (3G/4G) services. The demonstration was conducted using Anite’s (Finland) state of the art Nemo Invex Solution, which PTA has been using for testing and measurement of QoS of cellular and Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS). Nemo Invex is powerful and scalable solution to get accurate monitoring of 2G, 3G and 4G technologies.
PTA also invited Anite’s team to demonstrate and conduct a useful training session by sharing industry knowledge with the participants of International training program. Anite’s team described how technology is helping in connecting the societies and ICTs will be critical for achieving development goals in the world.
PTA and Anite’s teams presented major features of the Nemo Invex Solution and methodology for carrying out QoS surveys followed by live demonstration of QoS testing for voice and data services. Results of live testing were displayed to the ITP participants during the demonstration as well and a detail discussion was held on different QoS parameters during the Question and Answer session. ITP participants showed interest in the methodology and guidelines adopted by PTA for QoS testing and requested for support for improvement of their QoS methodology and regulations.
