CHITRAL - Provided by the Italian government, different machinery and equipments were distributed to 62 jobless skilled people in union councils Drosh 1 and Drosh 2 under the Livelihood Enhancement and Protection (LEP) programme.
Captain Shabbir Ahmad of Chitral scouts was chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Salahuddin Salih, the programme manager, said that Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) is a non-profitable organisation which works in different sectors for carrying betterment in the lives of people.
He said that SRSP is working in each district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including FATA.
He said that Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) funded it for different livelihood programmes of the province especially in Chitral.
They are also working in Hydropower generation to overcome energy crisis.
He said that it was working at a grassroots level and choosing deserving people through their community and village organisations.
He said that during a survey, local people said that according to their need and requirements, these machines and equipments worth of millions of rupees were purchased with the financial support of Government of Italy and distributing to the jobless youth and skilled persons.
In addition, household enterprises goods like cloth etc were distributed to women folk of the area.
Mufti Mahmoodul Hassan Nazim thanked SRSP and chief executive officer Shahzada Masoodul Mulk for their contribution in poverty reduction from the area.
He said that the youth were skilled and technical sounded but they cannot purchase these precious machinery.
Now they were provided these machines which will enable them to boost and enhance their economic condition.
Captain Shabbir said the people must play their role in maintaining in peace while Pak Army is ready for confronting external segments and know better protection of their motherland.
He said that Chitral is a very remote and backward area and its poverty can be eradicated only with the combined thoughts and contribution of local people.
They should welcome each and every developmental programme of the area.
He distributed the tools, equipments and machines for tailoring, carpenter, shopping center material, auto car painting, stone making and welding transformers and machines etc.
A large number of people attended the tools distribution ceremony.
