#Coca-Cola Pakistan Replenishes 800 Million Liters of Freshwater

Lahore: Coca-Cola Pakistan celebrated its 7 years of association with WWF-Pakistan and recent partnership with Mountain & Glacier protection Organization (MGPO) on World Water Day, by announcing that it has replenished, or in other words balanced, 800 million liters of freshwater back into the local communities. The Company is also determined to cross the 1 billion liters milestone in Pakistan by this year. In addition to this, The Coca-Cola Company is the first Fortune 500 Company to achieve the ambitious yet aggressive target of 100 percent water replenishment across 206 countries.

“This accomplishment marks a moment of pride for Coca-Cola Pakistan and our System. What started as an inspirational goal in 2007 is today a global milestone which we plan to sustain as our business grows. Our consumers and partners should feel an integral part of our constant efforts to maintain our commitment towards responsible water use today and tomorrow,” stated Rizwan U. Khan, General Manager The Coca-Cola Export Corporation, Pakistan & Afghanistan, at the steering committee meeting with local partners.

Globally the Company has returned an estimated 192 billion liters of water back into Nature and local communities, through 248 community water partnership projects in 71 countries, focused on safe water access, watershed protection and water for productive use. At the steering committee, Coca-Cola Pakistan was acknowledged as one of the top contributors towards this achievement, through its decade long association with WWF Pakistan under the Watershed Management project at Ayubia National Park. With the fairly new partner MGPO on board, the Company is keenly working towards the rehabilitation of water and sanitation facilities in the water-stressed region of Gilgit-Balitistan. Together these projects have provided access to sanitation, potable water, education and improved livelihoods for more than 200,000 local people. With constant innovation and developments in businesses, Coca-Cola has always remained one step ahead in implementing a robust approach towards each part of its value chain for a sustainable planet.
