ISLAMABAD: The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 40.568 million by end-April 2017 against 39.88 million by March 2017, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reported.
Number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 139.615 million by end of April 2017 from 139.108 million by end of March, which registered an increase of around 0.5 million during the period under review.
Major contributions during April 2017 were made by Jazz as it added 110,900 users on 3G and another 42,370 users on its 4G network. Jazz’s total count for 3G users stood at 12.516 million while 4G users were at 841,889.
Zong added 143,889 users on 3G networks while 218,488 users were added on 4G network. Zong’s total count for 3G users stood at 7.924 million while 4G users were at 3,591,201. Telenor remained consistent with 5,094 new 3G users during the month of April and another 98,249 4G users during the reported period. Telenor’s total count for 3G users stood at 10.53 million while 4G users were at 422,072.
Ufone added 69,907 3G users on its network during the month of April as the total reached 4.74 million against 4.67 million at the end of March 2017.
Teledensity for cellular mobile reached 72.51 percent and number of broadband subscribers reached 43,141,508 by end-April as compared to 42,369,872 by end-March 2017.
