Foreign minister Adel Al Jubeir said Riyadh that if Iran developed a nuclear weapons then 'we would do everything we can to do the same' 


SAUDI Arabia has vowed to develop nuclear weapons if Iran becomes an atomic power - a day after Donald Trump warned of a nuclear arms race in the region.

The Gulf state’s foreign minister said Riyadh would "build a bomb itself" if its mortal enemy resumes its nuke programme in light of America’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement.

Speaking on CNN, Adel Al Jubeir said: “If Iran acquires nuclear capability we will do everything we can to do the same."

He added: “We believe that the nuclear deal was flawed.”

In his speech yesterday, US President Trump called the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran “defective at its core."

The Republican claims that the agreement meant that a “nuclear breakout” in the Islamic Republic could happen in a “short period of time.
