Chitral - #Kalash people thank CM for Rs50 million grant
CHITRAL: The elites of Kalash valleys of Bumburate, Rumbur and Birir have thanked Chief Minister Mahmood Khan for extending a grant of Rs50 million for establishment of endowment fund to help them meet the expenses incurred on rituals connected with funeral ceremonies.
Addressing a press conference here the other day, Noor Shahideen, Shahzda Khan, Unnat Baig, Saifullah Jan, Iran Bibi and others said that the common people had to sell their trees or land to meet the heavy expenses incurred on funeral ceremony in case of death in a family.
They said that with the establishment of the endowment fund no member of the Kalash community would be forced to sell their properties to the outsiders at throwaway prices as the heirs of a dead would readily get financial assistance from the fund.
The Kalash elites also thanked the commissioner of Malakan division Riaz Mahsud, Chitral DC Naveed Ahmed and MPA Wazir Zada for making efforts to resolve the longstanding issue of the community.
