PBM, PPAF join hands to provide soft loans to WECs trainees


ISLAMABAD (APP):Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF)  join hands together in order to provide the soft loans to the passed out trainees of Women Empowerment Centres (WECs) of PBM, Under the umbrella of Ehsaas Programme.

In this regard an MoU signing ceremony was held today in Islamabad. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety Net and Chaiperson Ehsaas Programme , Dr. Sania Nishter was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, SAPM Dr. Sania Nishter said that country’s prosperity and uplift was directly related to women’s participation in different spheres of life.  She said the passed out students from WECs were capable enough to lead an honorable life by utilizing their skills.

She noted that there was a dire need of financial empowerment of the women for enabling them to undertake their own business ventures and help their families extricate from poverty trap.

Highlighting one of the main goals of Ehssas programme, Dr. Sania Nishter said that the umberalla framework was focused on the women’s economic empowerment and uplift the socio-economic condition of 6 million poor women who will be benefited from the Kifalat to preferential support for women through Tahaffuz.

Managing Director PBM, Aon Abbas Buppi, on the occasion expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion of WECs in order to accommodate the maximum poor women throughout the country.

CEO PPAF Qazi Azmat also addressed on the occasion and termed the initiative vital for brining pleasant change in the lives of poor women of the country.

Managing Director PBM, Aon Abbas Buppi and CEO PPAF Qazi Azmat signed the MoU.

It is worth mentioning that under the MoU, soft loans will be offered to 25,000 passed out trainees from Women Empowerment Centres of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal enabling them to live an independent life. Secretary Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety Division, Shaista Sohail was also present on the occasion.
