CHITRAL (Gul Hamaad Farooqi): First ever solar potable drinking water supply scheme completed at Singoor Chitral by Public Health Engineering Department. According to Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) Muhammad Yaqub. solar panel water supply scheme launched at Singor for this purpose 10 feet wide and 180 feet deep well was dug near Doctors colony which supply 5000 Gallons water per hour. It provides 40,000 Gallons water in its water tank situated at a height of some 450 feet on daily basis.

This first solar system water supply scheme will provide potable drinking water to residents Mirandeh, Singor, Seenjal and Shahmirandeh etc. talking to this scribe XEN Public Health Engineering M Yaqub said that Chitral is a vulnerable district by geographical point of view because all water resources are existing in mountain areas. Water can be brought through pipeline from a long distance and they always hit by land sliding, heavy stones, glaciers, flood and other natural disasters as a result these pipe lines damage and people deprive from drinking water for months. While on the other hand the government also face heavy loss to restore these schemes on its repair and maintenance.

This is very safe and feasible way of water supply to install solar panel, fix water motor and supply water from water well to a tanker and supply to general public through distribution line as comparative to other schemes. This is one time investment on installing of solar panel and water motor in dug well he added.

A local social worker Safdar Akash said that Golain Goal water supply scheme damaged by flood on July 7 but could not restored water supply even after passing 4 and half months. He said that if Solar system water supply scheme launched at Chitral it will be most easy as comparative to longest schemes which always in hit of bowls.
