(Monitoring Desk) Nokia makes entry into Smart TV market with the launch of 55-inch 4K Smart TV  comes with JBL audio and Netflix support. Nokia's first smart TV has been launched in India at Rs 41,999. The TV comes with JBL audio system and runs on Android 9 Pie TV OS.

Selling a smart TV is every brand's focus in 2019 and Nokia is the newest entrant to jump in on the bandwagon. The Nokia Smart TV has been teased for a while and it's official today. Sold by Flipkart, the Nokia Smart TV adds another option in the 4K Android TV segment in India. The TV will go on sale from December 10 and it will set you back by Rs 41,999. Currently, it only comes in a single variant with a 55-inch display.

The Nokia Smart TV comes in only a single variant with a 55-inch display. As stated, the TV uses a 4K panel with a 178-degree wide-angle view and comes with Intelligent Dimming. The panel has a contrast ratio 1200:1 and supports up to 400 nits brightness. The TV also comes with HDR 10 support as well as Dolby Vision. To keep the motion smooth, the TV uses MEMC technology as well.

However, the major focus of the TV is on audio quality and Flipkart has partnered with JBL to get the audio performance right. The Nokia TV comes equipped with JBL speakers that have a total rated output of 24 Watts. Flipkart says that the speakers are tuned for deeper bass tones, which is said to be popular with Indian consumers. The TV also supports Dolby Audio as well as DTS TruSurround sound.

Like all modern smart TVs, the Nokia Smart TV also runs on Google Certified Android TV OS. The TV comes with Android 9 Pie TV OS out of the box and that also brings along native support for Google Assistant, Chromecast and access to the Google Play Store. Nokia is baking support for few popular streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hotstar and YouTube.

Internally, the television has a quad-core (4x Cortex-A53) CPU clocked at 1GHz and Mali-450 GPU, 2.25GB memory, 16GB internal storage, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi. You get 3x HDMI ports and 2x USB ports.

In terms of the specifications, the Nokia Smart TV is built around a quad-core chipset with 2.2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage.

The TV runs on Android TV 9.0 platform with built-in Chromecast support. You also get Netflix, YouTube and Hotstar apps pre-installed, although there doesn't seem to be Amazon Prime Video, likely due to the exclusive partnership with Amazon rival Flipkart.

The television has a clean, minimal design with a centrally located stand so you don't need a wide table to place it and relatively thin bezels.

The Nokia 55CAUHDN is priced at INR 41,999 ($589) and will be available on Flipkart starting December 10 at 12PM IST.
