Chairman of Coca-Cola in Dhaka announces investment of Tk 1700 crore


Dhaka (WebDesk) Coca-Cola chairman and CEO James Quincy with women entrepreneurs at a hotel in the capital. James Quincy, chairman and CEO of soft drink company Coca-Cola, has announced a new investment of Tk 5,000 crore in Dhaka. James Quincy arrived in Dhaka for the first time on Tuesday. Later in the afternoon, he announced this by joining an event with women entrepreneurs at a hotel in the capital.

James Quincy came to Dhaka in the morning. No chairman or CEO of this organization had visited Bangladesh. As such, Quincy is the first CEO and chairman of Cocacola, who arrived in Bangladesh. He joined the event at a hotel in the capital shortly after his arrival in Dhaka around 12 noon. He is expected to attend several other events. Quincy will leave Dhaka in the afternoon.

Quincy said Coca-Cola has invested Tk 850 crore in the last five years. Coca-Cola plans to invest another Tk 1,700 crore ($ 20 million) in Bangladesh over the next five years through various activities. He also said that his organization plans to make one lakh women financially self-sufficient by 2021.

"We believe our business is just as sustainable, as long as our public environment is sustainable," Quincy said. Which means sustainable development of our business will be possible only when the development of the people and the society around us is possible. '

According to the company, Coca-Cola Bangladesh launched the 5 by 20 (Five by Twenty) program by launching the 'Women Business Center' (WBC) project to create a path for economic development for rural women in Bangladesh. Up to 25 women business centers are being operated in the center. Through which 4,000 women are already financially self-sufficient. Over one million women and their families will enjoy the benefits of the WBC this year. Currently the project is underway in Jamalpur, Khulna and Bagerhat districts.

The main products of Coca-Cola Bangladesh are Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Kinlay Water, Kinley Soda, Kokakola Zero, Sprite Zero, Thumbs Up Current etc. According to the company, Coca-Cola has created employment for more than 500 people directly and indirectly of more than 5,000 people in Bangladesh.

Among the various programs of Coca-Cola are 'Every Drop Matters' and 'Wash'. Under these two programs, water purification, sanitation, sewerage discharge, hygiene, cleanliness and collection of rainwater are being carried out in schools across the country.
