AkzoNobel Pakistan appoints Mubbasher Omar as its new CEO

KARACHI: Mubbasher Omar has been appointed as new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) AkzoNobel Pakistan Limited with effect from 3rd August 2020.

AkzoNobel Pakistan Ltd, a listed chemical company, is now in its delisting process at Pakistan Stock Exchange. After splitting with ICI Pakistan, AkzoNobel shows its intention to buy back 11.2 million shares comprising 24.19 per cent of the company’s paid-up capital from minority stakeholders and go for voluntary delisting.

The new CEO Mubbasher Omar, a seasoned commercial professional, comes with 25 years of experience with reputed market leading organizations like Shell Pakistan Limited, Indus Motor Company Limited and Regus Pakistan Limited. He is currently Chief Executive Officer at Regus Pakistan Limited. He has a master of Business Administration (MBA) from Lahore University of Management Services (LUMS) and master of public administration (MA) from University of Punjab.

Nowadays, Harris Mahmood is working as acting Chief Executive in addition to his responsibilities as CFO of the company.

Akzonobel is a Detuch Company and leading in paints and specialist coatings. It acquired ICIplc globally in 2008. ICI Pakistan LTD was the part of acquisition. In 2012, AkzoNobel retained the Paints Business of ICI Pakistan and divested rest of ICI Pakistan Businesses includes Soda Ash, Polyester fibres, chemicals and life sciences.

AkzoNobel Pakistan is working in Pakistan with the new name Dulux Brand.
