Snow sports festival concluded at Madaklasht, Girls players also participated in the tournament
CHITRAL (Gul Hamaad Farooqi) The Snow Sports Festival, an ice sports tournament, concluded at Madaklasht valley. This was the second round of ice sports. The tournament was organized by the District Sports Officer Chitral. The tournament included snow skiing, snow skating, marathon races, women's badminton and more. The local organization Azme Ali shan had specially given the opportunity to the girls of Midgalsht to play in this tournament so that they too could take part in these games and they would be encouraged.
During snow skiing and snow skating, boys as well as girls performed on the ice field and proved that we are no less than anyone. There was also a cultural show to warm the blood of the athletes during the Ice Games, and traditional music was performed by local artists Duff, Sattar and Jerry Kane. A prize giving ceremony was also held at the end of the game in which Kabir Afridi, Tourism Brand Ambassador of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the chief guest while District Sports Officer Farooq Azam presided over the ceremony. The guests distributed prizes among the successful players.
Talking to our correspondent, District Sports Officer Farooq Azam said that the main purpose of his visit to Madaklasht is to select boys as well as girls for Under-21 games so that they too can participate in these sports and go further internationally. Let the name of our country shine on the surface. Tourists who came to see the game appreciated local playes immensely and complained that the condition of the roads leading up to here is very bad.
Brand Ambassador of KP Tourism Kabir Afridi says that this is his first visit to Madaklasht and he was very happy to be here because both the boys and girls here are very good at sports and the people here are very peaceful and hospitable. ۔ He said that if these boys and girls were given a chance and provided with training as well as sports equipment, the day would not be far when talented players would be able to participate in these sports at the international level.
The president of the Aga Khan local council said that whatever games are held here, the local people should benefit from it. If everything is brought in from outside and the locals do not take from them what they can do, it will be unfair. In the future, the local people will also benefit.
Tournament organizer Adnan Sami says he is trying to give boys as well as girls in the area a chance to play so that they too can take part in these positive and healthy activities and avoid the scourge of negative thinking and drugs. On this occasion, District Sports Officer Farooq Azam urged the people to take part in sports as well as positive activities and co-curriculam activities along with education as the hospitals of the nations remain full of patients where playgrounds are empty. ۔ He said that the provincial government was making every effort to create education among the youth as well as to create a passion for sports and meet their needs. A large number of tourists had gathered in the snow-covered field to watch this exciting game and colourful festivities and their blood was hot even at 5 degrees Celsius. Locals as well as tourists demanded from government agencies that The roads of Madaklasht should be constructed as soon as possible so that the players and tourists who come here do not face any inconvenience in coming and going and only by promoting tourism can poverty be eradicated from this backward area.
