Pakistan Receives Shipment of 1m COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Test  from USAID

Islamabad: Pakistan received the shipment of a million COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Test (Ag-RDT) Kits provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan received this donation in a ceremony in Islamabad. Dr. Sultan acknowledged USAID’s efforts and said it is a “reflection of warm relations between the two countries.”

The US aircraft was sent to Pakistan carrying the Ag-RDT kits to aid the country in the quick detection of the coronavirus as the country is fighting the fourth wave of COVID-19.

USAID Mission Director Julie Koenen stated that the donated kits would help Pakistan in the need for quick surveillance and diagnosis, adding that it would restrict the spread of COVID-19 to the lowest possible level in Pakistan. Dr. Sultan thanked the USA during the formal handover.

Till now, $40 million worth of aid has been provided to Pakistan inclusive of different types of equipment, to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.
