#HBL pledges support of Football in Pakistan through Azad Foundation
- MoU signed to endorse Street Children World Cup bronze medal winning Team Pakistan
- Agreement underscores education & development for underprivileged children through the promotion of Football at grassroots level in Pakistan

April 2014: HBL,
Pakistan’s preeminent bank, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Azad
Foundation for the uplift of underprivileged children through the promotion of
football at the grassroots level in Pakistan. This MoU underscores HBL’s pledge
to support and enable the Street Children Team Pakistan to place Pakistan on
the world’s football stage. HBL and Azad Foundation also celebrated the success
of Team Pakistan for winning the bronze medal in the Street Children Football
World Cup held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in March/April 2014.
Mr. Nauman K. Dar, President and CEO, HBL,
and Mr. Naveed Hasan Khan, Chairman of the Management Committee, Azad
Foundation, signed the agreement. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Aman Aziz
Siddqiui – Head of Strategy, HBL, Group heads and other senior management of
both the organizations.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Nauman K. Dar stated,
“HBL is a national institution that considers its duty to ensure the inclusion
of all segments of our society, by enabling their dreams. This understanding with
Azad Foundation resonates not only HBL’s sports and communication strategy but
also actually empitomizes HBL’s vision of enabling dreams. Our prayers are that
these super stars present here today make Pakistan proud. HBL for its part will
do the utmost to ensure that they have all the tools that they require to win
more laurels and inspire the nation with their God-given talent and tremendous
efforts. “
Mr. Naveed Hassan Khan said, “Azad Foundation
was established to take children off the streets. Football is but one way in
which we have managed to achieve this, by the grace of God. We are grateful
that an organisation such as HBL believes in our mission. Mr. Aman Siddiqui added,
“HBL’s vision of enabling dreams is a revolutionary idea whose day has come.”
