Karachi, July 2014: Coca-Cola Pakistan today announced its programme to provide relief to Internally Displaced People of North Waziristan. Coca-Cola has pledged Rs. 10 million towards this humanitarian crisis, providing assistance to those affected by the military operation. By certain estimates, more than half a million people have been displaced and the number continues to grow.
Coca-Cola will partner with Jahandad Society for Community Development providing life-saving assistance to thousands affected by the operation. Provisions include emergency shelter, water and staple food items that will offer immediate relief and protection to those forced from their land.
Rizwan U. Khan, General Manager, Pakistan & Afghanistan, The Coca-Cola Export Corporation said, “During this time of distress, we feel that there should be no limit to the support we offer to the people who are suffering. Coca-Cola Pakistan’s response to such crisis is a gesture of our dedication to communities not only as a business, but as citizens committed to helping the communities we serve.”
