A 54-year-old woman from Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district managed to fend herself from a leopard and escape the dangerous cat after suffering serious injuries, The Daily Mail newspaper reported earlier this week.

According to the newspaper, the struggle lasted for an hour and ended after Kamla Devi grievously injured the leopard with a sickle.
Kamla suffered three fractures and deep cuts and was treated after walking about one kilometer to reach her village where she found help.
The daily quoted a doctor as saying Devi was in stable condition.
The doctor said Devi had more than 100 stitches.
The paper said the incident was notable for being the first in which a woman killed the leopard which pounced on her.
