Stop playing on both sides of wicket, Imran tells Siraj - وکٹ کے سامنے کھیلیں جناب سراج الحق صاحب

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman, Imran Khan, has asked the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq to stop playing on both sides of the wicket and clear his position on whether he stood for the status quo or change in Pakistan. In a statement issued here on Thursday, Imran termed the JI chief’s reported assertion that both the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had similar interests as disappointing.

The JI leader has denied having issued a statement that the PML-N and PTI were two sides of the same coin.Earlier, a statement by JI’s Liaquat Baloch had not gone well with the PTI, wherein he had said that by songs and dances, no real change could take place. He said Sirajul Haq’s effort to equate the PTI with the Pakistan People’s Party and the PML-N was condemnable.

The PTI chief emphasised that Sirajul Haq would have to stand up against the corrupt circles if he wanted supremacy of the law. Imran alleged Sirajul Haq had forgotten ‘as usual’ the National Accountability Bureau cases against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

The JI Ameer has barred his leadership from issuing statements in response to what Imran said.Sirajul Haq stood with Imran on elimination of corruption and rule of law in KP. Online adds: Imran Khan said it was indeed ironic that Sirajul Haq and the JI, which talked of the need to enforce the Islamic laws, was unwilling to see the PTI fight for the basic Islamic principle of justice as enshrined in the PTI struggle against rigging and theft of the people of Pakistan’s electoral mandate.

Khan reminded Sirajul Haq that wherever constituencies had opened, massive irregularities and blatant systematic rigging had been uncovered. He said that in three constituencies NA-154, NA-125 and NA-118, ballot box stuffing and fake votes had been discovered.

Khan also pointed out that in PP-147’s six polling stations that had been opened, massive fraud had been proven. That is why in the NA-122, the speaker of the NA continues to hide behind delaying tactics preventing the verification procedure from proceeding.

Khan said Sirajul Haq’s failure to recognise the injustice of the May 2013 elections despite a national political consensus that systematic rigging took place, raised serious questions about the commitment of the JI and its chief to the implementation of Islamic principles of justice.Khan also said Sirajul Haq could not, if he was honest, fail to recognise the corruption and robbery of the public resources by the PML-N and PPP for accumulating personal family assets.
