#PervezMusharraf asks GB people to vote for ‘third force’

ISLAMABAD - Stressing the need of a third political force in the country APML chairman and former president Gen(r) Pervez Musharraf has said that both PML-N and PPP disappointed the masses during their successive rule in the country and also caused irreparable damage to the democratic order through their faulty policies.

Addressing a convention on Gilgit-Baltistan organised here in Islamabad on Saturday via telephone from Karachi, former military dictator, who ruled the country for over a decade, termed change in the prevailing rotten system vital to keep the trust of the people in democratic order and to steer the country out of host of crises.
He also announced that his party would fully participate in the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and would surprise the so-called major political parties in the country, which had lost the public trust and would be exposed in these elections in shape of their crushing defeat at the hands of his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML).

Seeing the future of the country bleak if it will continue treading the same beaten track Musharraf said that people must get rid of both Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) which are bent upon looting and plundering the national wealth and giving preference to their sectional gains. Expressing his deep concern over the current state of affairs Musharraf said that country is full of resources and all what it required is the genuine leadership which could utilise these resources by fully utilising the capabilities of people. APML chief said that no new development projects are being planned or executed, lamenting that the development projects initiated during his era have been left incomplete. He said that the condition of the masses was turning from bad to worse as they are facing multifaceted crises including shortage of gas, water, power, inflation, unemployment, and law and order.

Musharraf said that he returned to Pakistan in 2013 with the aim to steer the country out of these crises but he was disqualified by making fabricated case against him. He said he came in the country with a hope to make a third power to take out the masses and the country out of prevailing mess.

He said during his era in 2005-6, he had initiated various development projects worth Rs8 billion in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Chitral and he had been monitoring them personally. He said he had built school, colleges, university, roads and a cadet college in Skardu. He appealed to the people to cast their vote in favour of the APML candidate from Chitral in the local bodies (LB) elections.

Musharraf said when he will return to politics, he will begin his politics from GB and Chitral because he has deep emotional links with the people of these areas. He asked the people to only vote to power to those candidates who will struggle for finding solution to their problems and not to vote to those who will abandon them after coming into power.

APML Secretary General Dr Amjad said that both PPP and PML-N had exploited the people. He said that after Musharraf era, the rulers filled their pockets and multiplied their personal wealth by establishing their industrial units abroad with the money looted from national exchequer. “The people of country are befooled in the name of development,” he resented. He said that people across the globe and particularly in Pakistan wanted to see Musharraf into power as they believe that incumbent rulers will flee the country after looting the national wealth.

Dr Amjad said the notion of united Muslim League will materialise soon as Pervez Musharraf is in touch with some leaders of MQM, PPP and PML-N in this regard. He said the APML will fully participate in GB elections and will emerge victorious as people of the region have great affection for Pervez Musharraf.

Gen (r) Rashid Qureshi in his remarks expressed the hope that the people will come out to bring Musharraf into power. He reminded that during Musharraf era the law and order situation was much more satisfactory as compared to the present situation. He pointed out that the situation is being disturbed in the region by the aliens who are fanning hatred among the people.
