(Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervez Khattak on Wednesday expressed grief over the brutal massacre that took place at Bacha Khan University on Wednesday morning.
While talking exclusively to Dunya News, CM Khattak said that he is in contact with the concerning departments despite being in Scotland. He said that KP government is fully assisting Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies and other security personnel in launching the investigation against the attack.
It’s a war, which has to be won by the united efforts. I urge all the parties and international community to play encouraging role in war on terror, he added.
He revealed that the terrorists still have hideouts near Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
KP minister assured that the forces are holding anti-terrorist operations in the province to ensure the law and order situation however, the main issue is to stop the militants from destroying peace of the region.
Earlier today, around four terrorists entered Bacha Khan University in Charsadda district, roughly 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the city of Peshawar, killing 20 people and injuring several others.
Medical Superintendent (MS) of the District Headquarter Hospital Charsadda confirmed the death toll.
Regional police chief Saeed Wazir told AFP the operation had ended and security forces were clearing the area, with most of the student victims shot dead at a hostel for boys on the Bacha Khan University campus.
Police, soldiers and special forces launched a ground and air operation at the university in a bid to shut down the assault. Dozens of personnel in combat fatigues and automatic weapons piled out of transport vehicles as helicopters buzzed overhead and ambulances with sirens wailing approached the scene.
