District government Peshawar in a meeting held on Thursday has evolved strategy for conducting fog spray after larvicide spray to prevent dengue in the district. District Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan presided over the meeting. During the meeting report of the larvicide spray conducted from February 15 to March 30, in streams, nullahs, canals and ponds to prevent the birth and growth of dengue mosquitos and pouring of special medicines and chemicals in streams and nullah was also presented.
Public Health Co-ordinator, Dr Mohammad Asif, District Health Officer (DHO), Dr Jehangir, DMS PPHI, Mukhtiar Khan and other officials concerned attended the meeting. While addressing the meeting, District Nazim Peshawar, Mohammad Asim Khan expressed satisfaction over the steps taken so far and directed conducting anti-dengue fog spray in the first week of the month of April and also convened a meeting in this regard.
He also directed all concerned departments for preparation of their homework for the prevention of dengue and starting of fog spray. He said that with the beginning of the April, fog stray will be started in all 92 union councils of the district. He said that district councillors will monitor the spray in the respective areas while a special control room will also be established. He directed PPHI to dispatch all required medicines to WSSP, four TMAs and other concerned institutions.
Asim further said that special awareness campaign will be arranged in all union councils under the supervision of district and town council members while a meeting and walk will also be arranged in the District Assembly Hall for this purpose. He reiterated his resolve that the year 2016 is the year of the abolition of dengue. However, he said it will be abolished with the full cooperation of the people.
