PTCL comes to the rescue of IT firms hit by STP-1 blaze

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited PTCL has extended its unconditional and complete support to the IT companies hit by a devastating blaze that broke out at the Software Technology Park 1 (STP-1) on September 10.

There were a large number of IT companies based at STP 1 in Islamabad which were affected due to the blaze. 

The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has already provided alternate routing of connectivity to the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). It has now offered Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) free office space to accommodate 150 people at its premises. In addition, THE PTCL has also offered free voice and data connectivity to IT companies along with preferential rates for data centre and cloud services to support the business continuity requirements of the affected IT companies.

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Shahid said, “We at PTCL are extremely grieved at this incident, especially at the loss of life and property. We are relocating our staff on immediate basis to make office space available for the affected IT companies to reduce disruption to their businesses. Being an ICT services provider, IT business is very close to our heart and we will continue working with the P@SHA to cater to the requirements of voice and data of all companies.”

P@SHA Chairman Barkan Saeed thanked the PTCL for its support and said, “It is heartening to see that the PTCL is playing its role as always to support the IT companies at this time of need. We are particularly impressed by the efforts undertaken by the PTCL and the speed at which the national carrier made arrangements for relocation of its personnel, providing the necessary facilities for us to help our member companies resume their businesses.” According to a statement, the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited being the leading ICT services provider of Pakistan has always supported IT companies and will continue to play its part in digitisation of the country.
