ISLAMABAD: Around 100,000 graduates of Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development (PMYSD) Program would get an opportunity to avail interest-free loans under Prime Minister’s Interest Free Loans Scheme on priority.
Chairperson Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Leila Khan said this while chairing a meeting on integration of those two components of Prime Minister’s Youth Program.
Representatives of National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), the executing bodies of Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program and Prime Minister’s Interest Free Loans Scheme respectively attended the meeting.
Leila Khan said Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) government was focused on financial inclusion of the poor and under-privileged segments of the society. Therefore, right after coming to power in 2013, it launched wide range of schemes under umbrella of Prime Minister’s Youth Program for helping them to get education, vocational trainings and start businesses of their own.
It is quite encouraging to note that so far 100,000 youth, both male and female, have successfully completed 6-month trainings under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program.
Under Prime Minister’s Interest Free Loans Scheme, Rs.9.5 billion has been disbursed as interest free loans among 401,120 borrowers for establishing businesses.
The chairperson asked NAVTTC to share data of its graduates under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program with PPAF team for speedy processing of interest free loans for them under PM’s Interest Free Loans Scheme to start their own business activities.
