ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has said that economic condition of Pakistan Railways will be improved within one hundred twenty days, through effective and concrete measures. He was talking to newsmen at Lahore Railway Station on Sunday, after visiting its various parts. He said no decision has been taken to raise railway fares.
Railways’ deficit would be brought to nil by the end of current year, the Minister PRs said adding that he had accepted the challenge to rehabilitate the railways under the vision of Imran Khan and improvement in the freight would be his target.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said that workers of the railways would be facilitated and twenty thousand studio apartments would be constructed for railway employees. He informed that three elevators for disabled and old age citizens would be installed at the Lahore Railway Station and more elevators would be installed at big railway stations across the country in future.
“I have asked the administration to purchase elevators even used ones on the guarantee of ten years,” the Minister PRs added.

ue.
He said that the online ticketing system would be improved in days to come.
Sheikh Rasheed said that all those officers would be demoted who had got promotion illegally.
“Love with railways means love with Pakistan,” he said.
He said the facility of online ticketing would be further extended and improved. He said more attention would be given to target railway freight business. He said elevators would be installed at major stations.
He said officers of Pakistan Railways will work one hour more than normal closing time, however, lower staff will observe the normal closing time.
He said a separate standard gauge line will be laid for CPEC related projects, rather than using the broad-gauge line.
