KP to Continue Support to Langland’s School Chitral: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Saleem Khan


Administration of the School will prepare concrete proposal for the resolution of their both short and long term problems within this week

An extra-ordinary high level meeting to discuss the structural, governance and financial affairs of the Langlands School and College (formerly Sayurj School) Chitral was held in the Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad Monday.

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Saleem Khan presided over while advisor to Prime Minister Muhammad Shahzad Arbab, former Chief Secretary KP Muhammad Azam Khan, Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, MNA Syed Fakhre Imam, Chairman Board of the Governor of the School Raza Kuli Khan Khattak, Commissioner Malakand Division, members of the Board of Governors of the School Zubaida Khatoon, Sirajul Mulk, Principal of the School Carey Schofield, Deputy Commissioner Chitral and Senior Officers of the Education Department participated.

The participants of the meeting were briefed about the quality education facilities the institution is providing to the poor people of that remote and backward area without any discrimination. It was informed that despite all difficulties, the institution has produced a large number of doctors, engineers, civil and military officers and enabled a large number of students from poor and lower middle-class families make entry to the best universities of Europe and USA.

The participants were also briefed about the problems the institution was facing which was followed by an open and thread bare discussion with a view to streamline its affairs, ensure its sustainability and make it compatible with every quality education institution of the country so that the people of that area are brought on a par with those of the developed areas of the country.

The participants appreciated the progress of the institution which having been started from the scratches in that remote and under developed area of the country but has produced such a large number of quality professional and officers in such a large number within a short period of about 30 years. However, they emphasized the need for improving its structure and the support of the government both with respect to finance and management.

Talking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary assured that Provincial Government will continue to support the Institution so that it is made sustainable and enable it contribute to the prosperity of the people of that area, the Province and the nation at large.

It was decided on the occasion that the administration of the School will prepare concrete proposal for the resolution of their both short and long term problems within this week and the Chief Secretary will convene a meeting of the BOG of the School so that whichever decision is required it is approved then and there.
