Facebook Announces a "Quiet Mode" for its Mobile App

Facebook has finally introduced an option to help students and professionals remain focused while working. It simply minimizes distractions reducing the risk of getting Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) checking. Here is how you can activate or schedule it.

A Quiet Mode has been announced by Facebook for its main mobile app. The Quite mode will pause “most” push notifications. It will remind you its turned on when you will try to open the software on your phone when the mode is active.

It is unclear the notifications that are excused from the new mode. As per the company, few, like privacy updates it is legally essential to send out.

Also, this new mode launched by Facebook shouldn’t be confused with the present “mute push notifications” setting that allows you to stop just push notifications but not the ones with the app, for a designated amount of time.

The Quiet Mode is present under Facebook’s “Your Time on Facebook” dashboard. Facebook launched it back in November 2018 after a push for major platforms and device makers including Apple and Google to promote digital wellness apps.

The Quiet Mode will operate both manually and on a set schedule. It will pause the notifications from within the app like the intolerable Facebook Watch badges۔

According to Facebook, you can either turn on or off Quiet Mode as needed or you can schedule it to run automatically at designated times. For example, if you work from home from 9 AM to 5 PM, you could set Quiet Mode to automatically run during your workday to reduce your temptation to waste time in the app.

A new update to the company’s ongoing COVID-19 information read, “As we all adjust to new routines and staying home, setting boundaries for how you spend your time online can be helpful. Whether it’s to help you focus on your family and friends, sleep without distraction or manage how you spend your time at home, we have tools that can help you find the right balance for how you use Facebook.”
