Bidding of 1590 spoiled wheat cancelled due to high rate.

CHITRAL:  1590 spoiled (expire) wheat are lying at 5 where houses (sale point) which were budding at DFC office. A committee under the chair of Qazi  Fidaur  Rehman Assistant Director Food Malakand Division was set at DFC office to decide about the bidding of these wheat. Other members were DFC Fazal Bari, Falak Naz Account officer Finance department, Fiaz Qureshi Additional Assistant Commissioner, Fazal Rabbi representative MNA  Chitral, Muhammad Ayub representative of MPA Hidayatur Rehmaman, Ameenur Rehman representative of minority MPA Wazir Zada (PTI), Muhammad Naeem Deputy Director Agriculture, Shafiqur Rehman of Law department and journalists.






Some 27 contractors had submitted call deposit amounting rupees 200000 and had  shown interest in purchasing spoiled wheat lying in the sale points of the food department in the district. These wheat are lying in sale points of food department at Reech, Danin, Khot, Yarkhun, Golain. 
The food department wants to auction 1,590 bags of spoiled wheat lying in its sale points in different parts of Chitral. But an auction scheduled to be held at the district food office was postponed after 27 contractors, who had submitted bids to participate in the process, insisted on purchasing the wheat by weight.
The food department had fixed the minimum rate of the wheat at Rs1,500 per bag of 100 kg.
DFC Fazal e Rabbi told the contractors that he would consult higher authorities about the matter and fix another date for the auction of the wheat if he was allowed to auction it by weight.
For years, people of Chitral have been complaining about short weight and spoiled wheat being supplied to them by the food department.
When asked for what purpose the contractors were purchasing the spoiled wheat, a contractor told  that he would use it as fodder for his animals but he did not know how the other contractors would utilize it.

Ameenur Rehman a PTI leader told this scribe that in past spoiled and expired wheat were being disposing off and were thrown in rive because it is not hygienically suitable for human eating but some times contractor use these spoiled wheat for selling to flour mills which again using by human. He demanded that these wheat should be damaged.
